811 Sponsored Jockey Wins 2016 Preakness Stakes

811 was featured on Kent Desormeaux, abroad Exaggerator on May 21, 2016, at the 141st Preakness Stakes. With a muddy and chilly environment, Desormaux had an incredible race coming from a poor start (13 lengths behind first) and working Exaggerator up to the front to win the race. He completed the race in 1 minute 58.31 seconds, with 3-1/2 lengths on second and third place finishers Nyquist and Cherry Wine. Nyquist had managed to beat Exaggerator at the 142nd running of the Kentucky Derby on May 8, 2016, coming in 1-1/4 lengths in front.

A dark bay or brown son of two-time Horse of the Year Curlin, Exaggerator had yet to beat Nyquist in three tries until the race on Saturday. Exaggerator won three of six starts at 2, taking the Saratoga Special in his third career race and stakes debut last August, and capping his juvenile campaign with a neck victory in the Delta Downs Jackpot in November. This year, Exaggerator also finished third in the San Felipe and romped in the slop to a 6 ¼-length score in the Santa Anita Derby before his try in the Derby, where he overcame traffic trouble from post 11 and came flying late to finish second.
